CULTURAL VITALITY: there are more than 20 classes and camps at Cumbe Dance that bring a deep knowledge of the music and dances of each teacher’s culture. Chicago-Style Steppin’, Sbar, Diaspora, Wet African, and Capoeira are among the many movement and percussion offerings Cumbe Dance brings to Bed-Stuy, Brooklyn, Prospect Heights, and Manhattan.
Cumbe also offers travelling education performance, workshops and residencies lead by dynamic performers and teaching artists with expertise in the cultures of Africa and places it influenced (such as the Caribbean, South America, and United States). On stage, in the classroom, or in the community, Cumbe is dedicated to sharing and celebrating the unique contributions of African-rooted cultures and their connections with other cultures.
